Classic Combat
Classic Combat is the PDBA's most basic and loved arena. This was the first type, therfore it being named "Classic...". Battling is done on foot, no vehicles of any sort, with PD weaponry, on PD levels. This is also the most common arena because it's so easy to set up.
. RULES
- PD weaponry only
- We battle on PD levels only
- We'll switch arenas once decided mutually by the group.
- During an arena change, use a vehicle to get from on arena to another (note this does not allow combat with them, simply to use them for transportation from one arena to another.)
- If you haven't a vehicle, use "teleporters" at the "edge" of a level. These will instantly take you from one arena to another.
- You are free to do things that cannot be done in PD, such as accesing obviously available spots that couldn't be accesed in PD. (EXAMPLE: jumping on the conveyer belt in AirBase).
- Give your opponent a fighting chance in combat. Let them fight back and do some damage to you. Do NOT do a cheap headshot to a person unless you are to be killed shortly after in your post.
- Limit the amount of people you are fighting. Odds are you won't win in a fight of 3 vs. 1.
- Do not run through an arena and kill everyone in one post; it's highly annoying and you will not get any respect that way. Your post would be deleted if done in this manner.
- Whatever another player says, goes. If they say you were killed, tough, you're dead.
- If you die, respawn and seek your vengeance.
- By all means, have fun with this. Don't take what another character says or does too seriously and start a big arguement.
__________________________________________
Ok, as you know we're doing this as a break from CISOD, since that's all that's been open for several months, and this is to get the action back in peoples' veins and get the newer people a chance for a regular arena. rules are above.
Mind you, you can form alliances in this arena. Just remember, there are only allowed a maximum 4 members per alliance.
We will start in Crash Site and switch arenas at the common decision of the group. post away!

The Maufleur loomed overhead the twilight, night sky. it's blue hull shimmered and flickered a bright red as it was supposed to. N3B still hadn't figured out why, but the best he could tell was just for appearance. Either way, he liked it.
The ship let off a quiete "hum" as it it slowly crept along the mountains. N3B flicked the scan switch on, and began scanning for lifeforms on the ice. The green screen showed a primitive 2D area of the arena, and responded without any life-signs. No one was there yet but him. Turning the scanner off, he swiveled the leather cockpit chair around to his left and began typing into his computer. He brought up a log that he had started recently, and entered "Crash Site, 21:24".
Returning to the main controls, he grabbed the controls in each hand, and maneuvered his ship down onto a small plateu off to the edge of the mountains. The silent, swift movement of the landing gears activated and turned on the hover-charge as it settled down onto the flat snow.
He pushed the yellow button on the side of the controls, and turned the hull cloak on. He stood up, and walked towards the back of his large, luxurious ship. It was large, and roomy. Quite often served as his home with all the household appliances it had; a bedroom, kitchen/living room, just about everything. The ship was orginally designed by the Markasians to be a transport ship, but N3B took the liberty of modifying it to house weaponry and the lot.
N3B slid open a steel cabinet door, and checked his weapons cache. instantly he found his classic set of DY357 magnums, and slid them into the hip holsters. Just to the side of those were his ZZT, which he stowed in the "quick-draw" thigh holster on his left leg. Then, he reached for his RC-P120, and strapped it on his back. Then, his modified Laptop gun, which served as a laptop computer and a hand-held automatic, rather than a sentry gun. Lastly, he grabbed 3 remote mines, and 3 N-Bombs from boxes and clipped them to his belt.
Adjusting his jump suit, he brushed his bangs back out of his eyes and threw his helmet on. flipping open the visor, he saw out into the cargo room of his ship. fully ready, he opened the hull door, which slid up with a moderately loud "swish", and he stepped out into the cold of the snowlands.
Checking the edge of the cliff, he found the shallowest part and slid down the ice to the snow at the bottom of the cliff. He rolled to a halt, and stood up brushing the snow from his suit. He looked around, and found himself inbetween a cliff wall, and Air Force One; the crashed ship still ledt idle at the Crash Site.
Setting a new clip into his Laptop gun, he found a moderately comfortable spot to await for the rest of his team.

Raven jumped off of the CI jumpship and nodded to the pilot. He watched the plane slowly lift up and take off, stranding him in the Arctic wilderness. As Raven started walking, he took out his Falcons and put new clips in them. Raven had come prepared for his first real battles in the PDBA; he had also brought a Laptop Gun and some Proximity Mines. As he reached for the Laptop Gun to load it, his hand bumped into his trusted staff. He was dying to use it, but that would result in an instant disqualification. He only had it out of habit; he didn't trust anyone in the CI to hold it for him. Raven sighed and continued on.
He had prepared well for this battle. He was dressed appropriately for the wilderness, and the extra pockets gave him access to hold more weapons. In his inside pocket on the left side he had a laser along with his Data Uplink. He didn't think it would help him with battling, but it may help him out of a few sticky situations. On the other inside pocket, he carried a CMP-120 with clips. Raven figured he'd need at least one SMG for this battle. Hopefully there'll be more guns I can get from the others, Raven thought.
Raven looked around and saw the silouhette of Air Force One in the distance. As he saw it, he remembered what he had heard about Joanna Dark's business here. He looked down, half-expecting to see footprints, but they were absent. As he glared at the snowy tundra, he realized he was truly alone. The first thing I have to do, he thought, is form an alliance with someone. After that...let the carnage begin. Raven grimaced at the thought; his Skedar instinct for war was bubbling up into his mind. He smiled and continued onward, looking for a place to wait for the war to begin.

Ranger was cruising in The Undead like always. He was getting bored with this and knew something had to be done to change his situation. He looked around his lounge room and saw his equipment stacked nicely to the side of the couch. He had been in leisure clothes ever since he had gotten back into The Undead. Yrael was still slung across his back because he didn't trust it to be far from his body. Mad at his loss at a game of chess against a computer, he got up and went to the cockpit. He looked over the consoles and screens that were there. Nothing had changed at all.
He went back into the lounge of his ship and picked up his helmet. He put it on and began speaking commands and pushing the buttons. He looked over some recent messages pleading for his return to bounty hunting and others cursing his life. He didn't care as he continued to scan over the messages he found one of interest. It was from N3B who rarely called on him. It said that a CC arena was starting up at the Crash Site. Ranger began to strap on his equipment as quickly as he could. This was the news he had been waiting for.
The PDBA starting up again was always a rush for him. He loved the thrill of fighting. He was sad that his vehicles would serve him no use as well as some of his arsenal but he would make due. He rushed into the cockpit and set course for Earth. The Undead instantly took flight. He had only been in orbit around Mars so the trip wouldn't take more than an hour.
He sped quickly into his other areas grabbing weapons from his large caches. He strapped two Falcon 2's with scopes to his waist and a K7 at his side. Dragon at his back and a CMP150 on his thigh. Combat Knife being the final touch as he placed it in his boot.
He sped back into the cockpit to land the ship. He had a strong urge to try a new upgrade to the ship. As it came in he let it come in hot. Then after breaking the atmosphere he put it into a complete spin. It looked sickening. There was nothing it seemed that would stop it from crashing as a heap of twisted metal. He would never be pulled from the wreckage. Then as he approached the snow encrusted arena he pushed a button.
N3B and Raven from a distance saw as The Undead made its enterance. He could see that a casualty was already in store before the arena had really gotten anywhere. He watched as the ship hurtled quickly into the snow area. He waited for it but it never came where was the crash...
The Undead hurtled at the snow and Ranger started counting until what looked like impact. 3..2..1 the ship suddenly stopped right side up perfectly. He jumped out onto the slightly melted snow for a soft impact. He quickly input the commands for stealth and low flight and the ship took off again.
"I love the new anti-gravity feild I put into the ship prevents any crashing and a fun ride into any landing." Ranger said with a smile on his face.
He quickly went off and found a cave to sit in and wait as he activated the NV on his helmet he got out the K7 Avenger and waited for the members to come...
OOC: I felt like making a big enterance.

Dr. Jackson was cruising, scanning his messages. One in particular caught his eye, telling him that a CC arena was starting at the crash site of the late Air Force One. Heading there, under a veil of cloak, he poped the hatch to his X-wing and said
"Gate, keep airborn." the dome headed R2 unit tooted a reply and Jackson slid down the rope that hung from the side of the X-wing. Landing next to Air Force One, he checked to make sure that he had rounds loaded in tis DY357's. Taking out his scanner and his log he first scanned the area, the scan showed 3 lifeforms located at the crash site, the closest was N3B. Entering "Crash Site, Victoria Island 22:00" into his log. "I've got to find Raven, I've got a question for him" he thoght. Using his scanner he found Raven, and started toward him. Pulling out his DY357's he had to be ready for anything. Walking toward Raven, a shot was fired in his direction, a voice yelled
"Jackson, dont come any closer!" Jackson identified the voice as being Ravens.
"Raven, I have a question for you!" he yelled back
"What?" Raven asked
"Do you want a alliance?" Jackson asked

Post by Draxas on Oct 11, 2003 2:20:53 GMT -5
"ETA for the Crash Site is two minutes," said the co-pilot.
Draxas nodded to him and ran final checks on his equipment. Afetr being notified of a PDBA duel, he had borrowed temporary use of one of Carrington's jumpships to transport him to the site. Dr. Carrington had expressed concerns about him using institute hardware for personal use, but after Raven left for the same event, he could hardly refuse.
Draxas checked the action one last time on his sniper rifle, was satisfied that it was working smoothly and wouldn't jam, and slung it into the holster on his back, over the top of Heavenshard. He had previously checked out the rest of his equipment, and everything seemed to be in place. He ran a mental inventory just to be sure:
Twin DMCs, loaded, silencers attached, check Twin Falcon 2s, loaded, silencers attached, check Sniper Rifle, loaded, check Combat Knives, 2 in belt holster, 1 in boot holster, 2 in vest, check N-Bombs, 2 on belt clips, 3 in vest, check Data Uplink, in vest, one never knows, check Extra clips, check, check, and... check I'm ready...
The jumpship began to cruise at lower altitude, kicking up a light cloud of powdered snow as it passed. It cruised into a small valley between the mountainous terrain, and set into a low hover. The co-pilot tripped the switch for the side hatch, and it slid noiselessly open.
"We've arrived at the Air Force One crash site," said the pilot. "When you're ready to leave, just radio ahead, and a jumpship should arrive to pick you up within a half hour. Good luck."
"Thanks," replied Draxas, and leapt from the ramp into the loosely packed snow of his LZ. The dropship hatch closed again, and the vehicle sped off into the sky.
Draxas studied his environs a bit more carefully. He was in a large clearing, with some sparse tree growth scattered about. There were paths leading off both to his right and left, as well as a cave enterance directly ahead of him. Behind him was a notably large snowdrift that he had seen from the jumpship. While this seemed mundane enough before, the agitation of the snow caused by the jumpship's passing revealed that there was definitely something metallic buried in the snow here.
"Well what do we have here?" Draxas said to nobody in particular. He mentally activated the X-ray scan overlay for his bionic eye. As the disorienting false-color image slid into place, it clearly revealed the wreckage of a Skedar Shuttle within the drift. Draxas began to dig in the snow, and before long, had uncovered what was once the side hatch of the shuttle. It had been burnt black and partially melted from a powerful explosive, and a small part of a corner was missing, allowing snow to enter the interior of the crippled craft. Draxas tugged at a seam in the door with all his cybernetically enhanced strength, but it was fused irreversably with the hull. He sighed. "What a waste of time."
Draxas turned from the wreckage, deactivated his X-ray scanner, and switched on his R-Tracker. The display showed nothing; Raven, and anyone else who might have arrived, was very far from his position. He sighed again, readied his DMCs, and set out for the caves, monitoring for anyone to appear on his display.

Checking the Nav computer of the Taipan showed he was entering the Airspace over the crash site.
Snake: "Oh S**t"
A check of his main Flight console revealed a fuel shortage.
Snake: "How the f**k did I lose fuel so quickly, I refueled the ship before I left Charon. Stupid Skedar, couldn't trust them as far as you could throw them, oh well, Vira, brace us for impact"
Flicking Vira's control switch, the droid covered the ship in Crash panels. The ship hit the earth not too far from N3B's position. Snake emerged from the cockpit, using his radio, he called for assistance and headed to the weapons compartment. Grabbing all his familiar weapons: Dual CMP150's, Dual Cyclones, and a Callisto. he went about repairs.

Ranger checked his radar once more to make sure it was right. The Undead circled around the arena in stealth when in fights like this taking a scan of the entire arena. It served for a little bit slower radar sometimes but for close people he used the R-Tracker in another corner of his visor. He looked at it the ship's radar though and saw it again. The blip that was approaching him. It was Draxas. He had met the cyborg on earlier outings in the quadrant. He had fought as his ally then, but now that they were in arenas again they were foes.
He came onto the R-Tracker and began to show up as a constant dot. This was going to be interesting to do. He had seen the way that Draxas had fought back on the Skedar Homeworld. He began setting up his dragon on a ledge with a string on the trigger. He grabbed his dual Falcons and went to another covered vantage point. He knew he would be seen on the radar as well by now and planned to use this to his advantage.
Draxas was making his way through the caves when a blip popped up on his R-Tracker, it was Ranger. He grabbed out his DMC's and began to make haste for the target. He couldn't wait for his first arena fight the thrill of it coursed through what veins he had. The cybernetics in him told him about the circling ship overhead and he knew that it had spotted him long ago. Ranger would be expecting him.
Ranger sat in his perch when he saw the figure of the cyborg partly illuminated in his NV. Bad thing about cyborgs was not all of their body's would show on NV or IR. since the two systems work off body heat and cold metal doesn't give much of that off it showed as a black-green mass moving with the rest of his body. Ranger grabbed the string tightly. He put one Falcon 2 over the ledge and aimed as best he could. He shot of a round at Draxas and missed. Draxas went instantly into firing at the previous shot.
"A little closer... a little closer," Ranger thought to himself.
Draxas was walking into the area and saw the Dragon placed up in the distance. He knew that Ranger had some way of firing it, but the radar said he wasn't in the spot so he began walking closer to it staying out of its line of fire. A shot sounded not far away from the Dragon and a bullet missed him but not by much. He let off a few rounds in the direction while coming all the closer. He saw the string then it drew a little tighter as Ranger gripped it in his hand. He began to deliberately walk a little closer to the line of fire.
Ranger saw his opportunity before him and pulled hard on the string the dragon fired and he popped up looking for Draxas' fallen body. Instead a few more shots flew at him barely missing his head.
Draxas had known that he was going to ambush him. He knew it had been a bad idea. He pulled hard on another string and retrieved his Dragon. He replaced it on his back minus the strings. He replaced the Falcons to their holsters as well and pulled out the K7 Avenger instead. He could see Draxas barely over the rock he was hiding behind he was looking for some cover to use and franticly ran around he decided on behind a pillar of rock. Ranger shot off a few that way and thought about how he could move out of this area to a better vantage point.

Raven looked down at Jackson's outstretched hand, and then back at his face. He was sincere, Raven could tell. "You know, Jackson...I was just contemplating forming an alliance with someone. How good of you to show up." Raven smiled and shook Jackson's hand. Jackson returned the smile. "Get out your guns, we've got some visitors. The ones I'm sure are here are Ranger, Snake, and Draxas."
"N3B's here too. Where do you want to go?" Jackson asked.
"Don't know. Let's just go this way." Raven turned on his infared function to his goggles and walked forward. Jackson walked by his side, aiding Raven because the infared hindered his vision somewhat. Suddenly Raven noticed two other beings: an obvious human appearing to be shooting at the other one, a red and green blob.
"Jackson, Draxas and Ranger are over there. Ranger's trying to get a head shot off of Draxas though. Think we should even the odds?"
Jackson nodded and the two walked slowly, trying not to make a sound. They were 100 feet away...50 feet...25 feet...
"Ranger...be happy. You're the first death of the game." Ranger turned around just in time to have Raven shoot at close range. He slumped down and disappeared.
"We're going to have him after my a** for a while. Let's go see Draxas," Raven said.

Razor flew high over the famous crash site on Razor's Edge. His cloak blew behind him as he put his helmet over his head. His fingers were already becoming numb from the cold as he checked his MagSec 4s. He checked the six handles of the knives he had in his belt and his Data Uplink he used to call his bike. He removed both Callistos from his back, making sure they were fully loaded. He grabbed a pair of grenades from the storage hold on his bike and placed them in his belt, along with a roll of duct tape. I love this stuff...he thought to himself. "Well...here we go!"
Razor dropped off his bike. His cloak, despite its weight, flew up behind him as he hurtled towards the ground. He extended his wings, using them to slow his descent. He looked down and saw some strange figure he didn't recognize who was very bundled up. "Aw crap...LOOK OUT BELOW!" The figure saw him, but didn't have time to move before Razor crashed down on top of him. The force of the impact not only pressed the extremely bundled up Merlin into the snow, but Razor pressed through up to his armpits. "**** IT'S COLD!" he screamed as his cloak impacted with the snow. "Who's brilliant idea was it to have yet another arena in the ****ing arctic? I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind...as soon as i can get out of this hole." He felt the figure underneath him squirm and mumble something. He gave him a quick kick and he stopped. "Quiet you..."
