That game looks like it's using the GW engine, or at least some off-shoot of it.

Yeah, I started messing with it the other day. The graphics look nice, but the UI seems very cluttered.

I've beaten NOLF; it was pretty enjoyable. Now playing Ultimate Doom and probably Gothic 1 (in German ;o) and/or Gothic 2: Night of the Raven.
I've got my eye on Overlord, recently released for the PC. It looks interesting, so I'll probably pick it up sometime in the next month.

Played and beat Gothic 1 again (I'm guessing for the 8th or 9th time? Quite alot of time considering each playthrough is 30+ hours). I'll be starting G2: NotR when I get back from vacation, while still playing the Ultimate Doom expansion (damn that thing is hard >.<).
I stopped by the GameStop yesterday to browse; didn't see a copy of Overlord. I did see one or two potential games that I mentally wrote down and researched when I got home -- both turned out to be rather lame. I also saw RE4 in the PC rack and was somewhat surprised.

Played and beat DMC2 as Dante last night -- took me a little over 4 hours without trying to go for speed bonuses. My thoughts are that Dante doesn't seem like such a smart-ass in 2, which was part of what made him cool in 1. 2 was also wayyyy too easy. I'm debating whether I'll fully play through as Lucia or just move on to the next game on the list.

I never even bothered to play through 2 with Dante...got bored VERY easily.
I plowed through 1 and actually went back and did a bit of Hard Mode. It's even Harder after not playing for so long...
I MAY go back and try 2 again. It'd be worth it to play through with those two if only to earn the ability to play as Trish.
...I need to get 3 though...
Also, the DMC Anime is AWESOME. Check it out. Nothing like watching Lady and Trish going at it...

My, I haven't altered this list in quite a long time. Those who remember my old one will find some significant changes.
At this point, I think I'm pretty much caught up with most to all of the games I want to get right now. While I'm still poking around for good deals on older stuff or random games that I have mild interest in, I don't think I'm going to really want anything until Metroid Prime 3 drops (at least, that's the next game to supposedly be released that I can think of that I really want).
N3B's attention will probably be immediately drawn to the mysterious emergence of a Gothic title on my list. I found it randomly on the PC rack at a local Gamestop, gathering dust and selling for a measly $10. I picked it up figuring it had to have some redeeming value if N3B is so obsessed with it, right? Thus far, I don't get the appeal. The game's execution strikes me as nothing less than clunky, especially where combat is concerned; maybe I just don't get it, but my battles seem to boil down to swinging straight forward like a madman, hoping my enemy dies before I do. I've never hit jack squat with a side attack, and the timing of a parry seems to have such a small window to be useful that I've never gotten it to work. I find myself frequently gritting my teeth at the sight of my hapless avatar lying on his back in the dirt. Frustrating.
Despite that, I'm mostly currently enjoying Disgaea 2 immensely, and participating in the AllSpark Wars on the 2 DS Transformers games (which I highly reccommend; they're by far the best of the movie games).

The controls certainly seem awkward at first, but after you've gotten the hang of them you can find that they're actually quite responsive and well-implemented. They're not like what you're used to in other games, but I've found that they've actually given me more freedom and control than in most other action/adventure/RPGs I've played.
As far as combat goes, it's designed to have a learning curve -- you're going to suck at the beginning. As you get used to it, you'll find your personal skill gets much better and what used to kick your ass will be manageable. Also, be sure to put LP into your combat abilities; you get new combos at 30% and 60% (and the damage you do is better with higher %).
EDIT: I might also recommend switching the control scheme to G1-style, as I've run into some anomaly with G2 controls that doesn't let me use the combat right. I've also found it works better without using the mouse, as it's relatively useless. Another thing to consider: parrying only works against enemies with weapons; won't work on wild animals like wolves or field raiders.
I can go on about other things to expect, but it'd be more fun for you to find out for yourself. Other than that, just stick with it -- you'll find things get better once you've started to join a guild.
Meanwhile, I'm beginning to think of getting an Xbox 360. Turns out there are quite a fair amount of games on it that I would like to play, and a bunch of games that are constantly coming out. I've been more of a PC gamer the past couple of years, but it seems I've just about caught up with the PC industry and there just aren't that many worthwhile games coming out. However, I'm a bit skeptical of buying a $400 console (plus more for games, at least a second controller, and so forth) when I just bought a $2100 laptop, and still have a modest stack of PC games to play, and several books to read.
For the record, my laptop: 2.4 ghz C2D processors, 512mb geforce 8600m GT, 4gb ram. It's a pretty sweet set-up, but I'm a bit skeptical of having to use Vista on it (UVA requires that I have Vista to use their Internet).

need more attention span can't read for more than one paragraph without boredom setting in lol. Anyway thought I would comment on your stuff about DMC2. What a waste of time and money. Even the maker said in an interview that at the time it was Dante's twin from viewtiful Joe that was in that game. It really was terrible and everyone knows it. DMC3 was much better and I can always enjoy a bit of DMD mode on DMC1

I bought the 5th Aniversary collection for $15 or so; already played and beat DMC1, figured why not play DMC2 since I already had it. I'm not gonna play through as Lucia or do hard mode/DMD -- wasn't all that fun the first time around to warrant continued play.

I picked up Mario Kart DS on sale this weekend, and it's super fun (of course). Anyone who has it and races online should post up a friend code in the DS thread, I'll take you on.
