I'm BacK!!!
I started kinda' missing the PDBA, especially the co nstant checking for an update-the constant respawns, and the extreme amount of fun going on.
Course the reason for my last hiatus was frustration that nothing was happening so...
Is anything going on now? This PDBA board looks kinda dead...

Sadly, dead doesn't even begin to describe.
Nobody's posted in an arena for many months now. The only truly "active" boards on the site anymore are Battle Arena (because of LMS) and Clash of Realities. If you think this and the fact that myself and Razor are the only active staff might be related, you may just be correct.
Believe me, I would start a new arena in a heartbeat if I thought people would actually participate. But considering how quickly the last 2 arenas I started died off, I hold no hope. So I maintain my little personal corners of the site, keep them (fairly) active, and try to hold onto what few members still bother to swing around. If you have a desire to become active in those areas, I would be more than happy to include you.
Nothing would make me happier if people want to prove me wrong about this. If you want to see an arena come back to this board, post here and say so! I want to see an outpouring of support for the REAL point of this site!
But I suspect support will be minimal at best. Either that, or people will ask for an arena, but by the second page of posts, it will be dead again, just like the last few times...

Just so you know, I would participate as much as I could if you started another one up. That's a "just for the record" thing.

I'm glad to hear it. But 3 of us does not an arena make. Anyone else want to support a new arena? Because I'd be willing to start one up if we get enough people to make it worthwhile.

Another attempt couldn'y hurt any. Maybe some of the others who have stayed quiet until now might join in once we get underway.
I'll try to kick it off sometime this weekend.

Any preference as to what type of arena, and where?

I was thinking maybe a bit more basic to ease everyone back into it, but who says we can't start off with a bang?
Pitch the idea!

PDBA: Generations
A nice change of pace that just may get people interested.
We've all tried all different kinds of rules and locations and such...but perhaps what we really need is a change in setting...in TIME. Generations would be set somewhere along the lines of 20-25 years in the future of the current PDBA. Depending on the characters, some people could keep the same fighters, and some would introduce new characters. These new characters could be related to your old character or another person's, or just totally new in every way. New alliances would be forged, new technology perhaps, and lots of change.
A few examples.
A character like Notesurfer could still easily be lurking the arenas. Some of the newer, younger characters could be combat vets by now. Some characters may have children, relatives, or in some cases newer or related models involved. Even just some character involved in your past.

i heard the "warriors of the world" song and have been burning for a CISOD since >.<
anyways, i'd like to try the generations idea, but i'd need to think up something interesting, which could be alot harder than one would think.

Or, some of us are just plain vanilla immortal. Which is not to say I won't use a new character, though. Despite that, I love the idea. In fact, I love it so much, I'm going to open up a temporary Generations profile thread, for people to post their new profiles for our trial run. If this takes off like I hope it will, we can all just add our extra "Generations" character (or characters!) into our main profiles. I'm posting up that thread now, so I hope to see some good stuff from everyone!
