oooh, you're in for a treat. it's like a DS cart that has a slot for a microSD card in it. you fill the microSD card full of DS ROMs, homebrew programs, pictures, video, music, whatever - and run it all from your DS.

I figure it's time for an update again... Gamestop is running a promotion for 25-50% off a whole slew of titles for everything that's not a current-gen console (which means the current-gen handhelds are on sale too). I picked up Castlevania: Curse of Darkness for a measly $10, and it's a dead cool game. I also smile at my good fortune (and small but growing collection of Genesis titles) for the recent virtual console releases.
Incidentally, I think new releases come out on Mondays. I should probably check and see if anything interesting got posted this week.

This R4 thing sounds tempting. I was debating getting a PSP for that very purpose (that and the bigger screen would be better for watching video and reading subtitles), though considering I'll be getting a laptop soon, that will handle most of my troubles for such things.

eb games here barely ever has specials, but when they do i can pick up a previously $60 game for about 30. pretty good. R4s are great, and the best deal is here. best microSD card available (1GB kingston japan), good price, all in english, comes with a couple extras, and is as easy as hell to use. not to mention the free shipping. i'm gonna get one soon. also, sorry n3b, was at school when you sent those messages

>> I was just trying to see if I could figure out what AIM Ranger was using (if anyone knows o.O).
I've ordered Thief 2: The Metal Age.
My brother bought The Ship, an online game, the other day. The idea sounds interesting, but it doesn't sound like it has much to keep me interested for more than a day or two.
It basically seems like you join an instanced server with up to 32 other people, and you all wander around a 1920s era passenger ship similar to the Titanic in design. Each person is assigned another player to kill, so you're out trying to kill your target, while someone else is trying to kill you. You get money for killing your enemy, the more creative the kill, the more money you earn, supposedly you can use pretty much anything on the ship to do it. It mixes elements of simulants (like the Sims) where you need to eat, drink, sleep, and use the restroom, periodically.
Again, it sounds very amusing, but there's not much that would keep me playing beyond a couple of rounds.

Well, The Ship is working fine on my computer, though I'm not sure how much I enjoy it. I started up the one-player mode and wound up soiling myself in feces and urine while starving to death and needing to clean myself before getting arrested by the guards for injecting my victim with sleeping potion, despite the fact that according to my "radar" no one could see me.
So that was pretty lame because it was all like "You need to eat and drink," so I wandered around for a while looking for a bar or vending machine, and by the time I found it I needed to rest some, and then after I rested I needed to use the restroom so I wandered around looking for the restrooms and then I soiled myself so then I had to find a sink or a shower and clean myself, so I wandered around looking for that and then I stumbled upon my mission objective.
Doing those "sims" chores are a bit too much of a chore, considering I have no idea where anything is on that ship, and there's no map that I could find, so I spent the entire first level wandering around aimlessly trying to satisfy my sim-chores that I was continually failing to do because I had no idea where I could find the stuff to do so.
I'll give it another shot or two later, but that was a very bad first impression.

There's a map. Try the map button. It helps you find where you're going AND helps you hunt and such.
That's a VERY fun game. Just wait til you get your first Flare Gun...kekeke...

got my R4:
pokemon diamond: best in the series so far, IMO (although i guess that's what it aimed for) custom robo arena: looks like a hell of a lot of fun in multiplayer, story mode is a little lacking animal crossing: fun concept, not sure how long i'll play it for though if money-making is the only real objective hotel dusk- room 215: great art, cool storyline so far, unique way to play it (hold the DS like a book) phoenix wright: as good as they say it is

I don't know what to make of Custom Robo: Arena. I like the battles in Custom Robo, so it was nice to get another game in the US. What I like about CRA, is that it gives you more freedom to go around and do stuff, unlike in CR which kept you on rails for the whole game, and you couldn't do anything outside of battles.
There's next to no incorporation of the touch screen in combat, which isn't all that bad, just somewhat of a let-down (the only way they really did incorporate it was in polishing your robo, which seemed just like a gimmick to me, oh, and in posing your robo). The controls don't seem as good as in CR, even though it's basically the same, and the weapons don't feel as balanced as they were in CR.
Otherwise, I absolutely hate the story of CRA -- because there pretty much is none to speak of. 80% of the game is "Hey! Let's fight!!!" and a few random "Oooh! There's a tournament coming up! Let's fight in it!!!" and it's not until the very end that you run into some semblance of a plot, which even then isn't all that deep of one. But, the game amused me enough that I can reflect on it and say that I enjoyed it.

well I thought I might drop something in for those with the processing power to handle it as I can't right now. Sword of the New World. Awesome screens were seen in my PA guild from WoW and thought I might drop the name here so you could enjoy what I couldn't yet

SNW! I'm in the Beta for that actually, just started last night. It's fun and sharp, but a little clunky in the controls, and the Megaphones and constant updates cluttering the screen are annoying. Also, translation still sucks, as you can see in this screenshot. My Fighter, Elementalist, and Scout. My Musketeer is sitting at home, chilling on the couch.
