I'm a bass player too. Self taught. Started about 9 years ago. You use a pick or fingers?

pick, fingers, and classical. prefer the pick tone for the music i play, though, so subsequently i'm faster and better with it. i've been playing for.. i think a year and a half now? i play guitar, drums and piano as well. but bass is still my favourite to play in a band situation.

Yeah, I guess a pick is better for what you do. Especially the power chords. The band I was in back in college played mostly blues rock and classic rock, thus fingers were better. I also got a bass wha which provided a little fun...along with the remote I got too. Nothing like going for a walk around your yard while playing your bass and hearing it come out in the garage. I also play Sax and trombone...no guitar though.

heh yeah, i have a weird setup. whammy, delay, flange, distortion, and i plan to run a second channel which is permanently distorted (with two different stages) for a crunchier tone.
i could go for a wireless, i think it'd be pretty handy. but it always reminds me of spinal tap where he picks up radio through his amp, heh.
