Carrington Institute Special Operations Division
Location - Carrington Institute, Warwickshire England

Another deafening blast billowed out of the silver barrel of the K7
Avenger
as small traces of smoke rose into the air. A gloved hand creeped to
the back
of the gun and pried the emptied cartridge out of the automatic,
dropping the
clip to the floor. Lowering the barrel of the weapon, Dark181st gazed
from
across the firing range and analyzed the results of his prior blasts.
Bullet
holes littered the assorted colored target. A wry grin materialized
across
the bounty hunters face as he slowly turned and snatched a fresh
magazine
from the near wall and snapped it into the K7. Suddenly the
depressurization
of the firing ranges door sliding open caught the infamous assassin's
attention.
Turning his black visored gaze toward the entrance of the firing range,
Dark181st set eyes on the 62 year old entrepreneur, and administrator
of the
Carrington Institute, Daniel Carrington. His black polished shoes
glistened
from the ceiling lights, with his finely pleated black bussiness suit
accenting his entire attire. The heavy set, bearded man, began to walk
toward
Dark181st, immediately moving his attention down the end of the long
corridor towards the bullet ridden target. Stopping at the bounty
hunter's
side, Carrington set his hands on his hips, slightly rising on both
toes with
a light chuckle.
"It looks like you will be just the man my friend" Carrington exclaimed
as he
stared continuously down the large corridor. "It seems that you would
even
give Joanna Dark a run for her money." Turning his large frame toward
the man
by his side, Daniel set his right hand atop Dark181st's shoulder.
"There are
a few details that we have to work out. So if you would step this way,
we
could get to my office and start talking a little bit of business."
"Well then it's settled" Carrington continued as he leaned forward in
his
chair with both hands placed atop the glass table. "The operation will
commence as soon as you see fit. We will be greatly indebted to your
services
Dark181st...that is if you pull them off." Daniel leaned back in chair
and
set both of his hands behind his head, gazing into the reflection of
the
tinted visor of the infamous bounty hunter. There was a long, drawn out
silence amidst the two individuals, yet neither of them seemed pressed
to
continue. Carrington drifed between his thoughts. Thoughts of his many
agents, his dealings with the friendly Maians and their conflicts with
the
Skedar. Thoughts of where the Institute would be heading in the near
future,
and how they would deal with the large monopoly of Data Dyne headed by
Cassandra De Vries. Thoughts of his latest plans.
Startled by the light click which echoed in his ears, Carrington's eyes
shot
open as he gazed at his company. Dark181st's comlink channel had
opened,
allowing the emotionless robotic voice to leak into the room. "So...let
me
get this straight. You are going to pay me a hefty sum of money, which
you
deliberatly admit to not knowing what that sum is, to hire my services.
You
want me to create and establish a Special Operations Division for the
Carr
ington Institute."
Daniel's white teeth beamed from the shelter of his mouth as his head
nodded
in recognition. "That is absolutely correct my boy"
"Well..." the bounty hunter continued, "I must admit that I have not
accepted
a job like this before, but then again, day in and day out something
new
presents itself." A slight pause left the office silent before Dark
persisted. "How much are we talking here? A couple million dollars?
More?
Less?"
Carrington's grin didn't falter as he left his gaze locked on his
newest
employee. "I see that you are a man of business...and business alone.
You see
my good friend, money isn't the issue. The issue is whether or not you
can
pull this off. And if so...how well. I will be paying you like I do all
of my
Agents. And let me reassure you, they do not work for cheap. I for one
know
all about that."
"So what kind of division are we talking here Daniel?" Questioned Dark.
"There are thousands of military personel in this world, in this
universe,
who would be much more qualified than I am to produce a formidable
team. I am
sure you can find better, and probably for a lot cheaper."
Carrington nearly burst out in laughter as his head creaked back behind
the
head of his chair. Staring through the glass skylights from above his
office,
Carrington brought himself forward and slammed both of his open palms
on the
glass conference table. "You know that's not true Dark181st" scoffed
Carrington. "There is NO ONE in this world who has not heard of you,
ESPECIALLY me...seeing how you have occassionally brought yourself into
the
picture with Data Dyne."
"I am simply giving you my opinion" persisted the infamous bounty
hunter.
"And I am simply giving you the truth" rebuttled Daniel. "So...are
there any
more areas of concern before I set you off?"
"As a matter of fact...there are." Dark181st slightly shifted in his
chair,
repositioning his feet beneath him. "You haven't exactly told me, or
drawn
out, what kind of division you want to form. I do not know the funding
you
want to put behind it. What kind of materials, weaponry, technology you
are
looking for."
"And I thought you said you weren't experienced. HA!" joked Carrington.
"You
see my boy. The beuty of this job is for YOU to decide. That is why I
am
hiring you. If I knew all of the answers, I wouldn't have saught you
out, or
brought you here. I need your opinion. You have been up close with Data
Dyne.
You know how they act, and react to situations."
"It's not as if I've been an employee there for a very long time."
answered
Dark.
"Precisely my dear friend. You have been in and out, at all the right
times.
You know exactly how the company has changed." Daniel clasped his hands
together with a large smile across his face as his heart filled with a
sense
of victory. "There is no way out of it...you are my main man behind
this
project. SO...since you seem to be so interested and involved with what
is
going on...what do you think I should do?"
Dark181st leaned back in chair, placing both of his gloved finger tips
together as his legs moved him from side to side in his swiveling
chair.
After several moments, the helmeted bounty hunter's comlink broke the
silence. "Well...from what I know about your operations here...the only
military trained personell that you possess are those of your closes
field
agents. Of the few that I know of, is Joanna and Johnathon Dark. These
are
extremely well trained individuals, yet they cannot fight the battle
you are
waging with Data Dyne. I feel that the best way is to train a well
rounded
group of personell, who can create a Special Operations Division for
the
Institute. These men must be familiar and adept in ground combat,
flying,
tactical and reconnaisance maneuvers, as well as knowing their ways
around
computers. Naturally if there is a team of around 10 members, several
of them
can be trained in different fields. Next to personell, there will have
to be
a steady channel of funding going into this division. With weaponry and
vehicles. I'm talking skedar attack fighters, to heavily modified CI
Jumpships and Urban AG Gunships. As well as armaments for the team,
tactical
gear, as well as a place to train and sleep. This will be a large scale
operation. We need to find the right people. How will we do that, as of
now I
do not know. But if you've got the funding and the will to get this
operation
off the ground...I'm sure we can find a way."
Daniel Carrington remained in his seat, with his visage beaming. "The
money
is no doubt there...all we have to do is get our project off the
ground. When
did you want to start this operation?"
"As soon as possible Daniel...as soon as possible." Dark replied.
"Excellent...then it is settled. The Carrington Institute Special
Operations
Division is now officially on it's way to being placed into order."
