Niff was still scouting about the arena on ZeroXII, until his watch bleeped. It told him that the arena change was happening.
Arena change: Area 51. Arena change: Area 51.
Came the annoying bleep of the small voice. Niff put his foot down, and accelerated full speed to his main ship. A figure moved in the distance.
Merlin.. Hahahaha.. he thought.
Slamming down the brakes, he shifted position in the seat. He tapped a button by the seat and with a soft whirring noise, a shiny, never-been-used Vulcan cannon sprouted from near the tail.
Niff tapped on his watch, and the IR mode of his contact lenses flipped on. He took aim, and pulled the trigger. Blue flashes erupted from the barrel, and misty blood sprayed from Merlin's body.
Don't **** with the N-Bombs, punk. he said to himself.
ZeroXII docked with Zero, and Niff took off to Area 51 at hyperspeed.
A great flash of white light erupted from the sky as Zero materialised. He set down his ship onto the helipad. Bullets flew straight over his head, and several sparks flew from Niff's face as they tore away the skin and hit metal. "Aaagh! What the hell!" He roared. He dived straight back into Zero and grabbed out his K7. Nff then flipped a switch to see outside, and the roof-hatch opened. There was a Robot Interceptor above. The low, thudding sound of a K7 filled the air. Then the whining of the interceptor falling, then explosions, then silence.
Niff checked the interceptor for Vulcan cannon clips, and found a few. He threw them into Zero then set off, unscathed.

Draxas shouted "WAIT!" at the retreating Notesurfer, but he was too late. The teleporter pulsed a bright blue, and he was gone, transported to a random point within the Villa.
Great, thought Draxas, we're not even in a sanctioned arena, and he wants to fight me one on one. What could he be thinking?
Draxas paced the belly of what he had thought was a CI jumpship. It was now obvious that it was some sort of illusion, put into place by Notesurfer to bring him here, for purposes unknown. He couldn't help but wonder why Notesurfer chose him, of all people, and why this place, of all locations. He was startled from his pondering by a comm alert in his ear.
He flipped on the comms unit, and could just barely make out a voice on the other end. "Draxas...Draxas, you there?" it asked, through a thick haze of static and interference.
"Draxas here. Who's this?" he replied into the comm.
"Draxas, it's Raven. I just want to apolo --"
"Don't bother. I needed your help, and you totally left me out." The now familiar rage built up inside him once more, and his confusion turned to resolve. Raven had a lot of nerve trying to contact him now, after leaving him to die with nary a word, especially since he was able to communicate over this distance, through the blizzard that was undoubtedly still raging, considering the poor signal quality.
"But I'm sor --"
"Look, I'm at Carrington's Villa. Come here and we'll settle this. You wanted me on your team, and you totally betrayed me. I've got a couple Falcon bullets ready to plant in your head." Draxas angrily closed the link. If he wanted to make his amends, he could do so in blood. Apologies simply wouldn't cut it, where death was concerned.
Death, thought Draxas, THAT is what concerns me most now. This isn't a sanctioned arena, is death permanent here? If I kill Notesurfer in the Villa, will he respawn again? If he kills me here, will I leave this dimension for the next? I hope he's thought this through, because I need to find out his intentions.
As if to punctuate his thought, a general comm signal sounded in his ear. Draxas tuned it in, and heard that the arena had been shifted to the Area 51 complex. Well that settles it, this is definitely an unsanctioned arena. So why are we here? Not that it matters, I have no way of getting to Area 51 right now as it is.
And with that, Draxas readied his DMCs, and stepped into the soft blue glow of the teleporter. The light pulsed, and he was suddenly bathed in high noon sunlight. He shielded his eyes, and attempted to get his bearings. He was standing on a landing pad, which was totally abandoned save a few crates near the mountainous wall that sloped sharply upward from the concrete. The entire area had an eerie feel to it. It was as if moments ago, armies of personnel were working here, and then suddenly, simply vanished. It was an unsettling feeling, everything here felt out of place, and he felt out of place for disturbing the calm.
Despite his misgivings, Draxas knew he was still here for a reason, though he still couldn't understand what it was. But he knew that if Notesurfer caught him unawares, he might never live to find out. Regaining his combat wits, Draxas headed for the crates, to see what sort of supplies they might hold. As he pried the lid of the first container open using his enhanced strength, he was rewarded with the sight of a new, intact Devastator, packed for shipping. Inside the other 2 crates were a multitude of grenade round clips, also packed for transportation. Draxas quickly unpacked the weapon and ammo, prepped it for combat, and snapped a fresh clip into place. He pocketed the rest of the ammunition, and mentally noted that he would have 40 grenade rounds in total.
Now to find Notesurfer, and find out what this is all about, thought Draxas. I'll only have a short time before Raven and Jackson show up here as well, so I hope Notesurfer's in the mood to talk, rather than fight. But incase he isn't, Draxas cocked the handle on the Devastator to chamber a grenade round for firing, I'll be ready.
Draxas left the landing pad, and passed through a small gap in the retaining wall that accessed the Villa's harborside courtyard. Almost immediately he came under fire, and he rushed behind a small outcropping of rock from the seawall as Falcon 2 shells ricocheted around him. When the firing stopped, he peeked out around his shelter and tried to spot Notesurfer. He spotted him quickly, he was standing up on a balcony near one of the Villa's side enterances reloading his weapon. Draxas sighted along the Devastator, and had a clean shot, but he hesitated.
Has he gone insane? mused Draxas. He's not even taking advantage of the cover he has in front of him. It's like he wants me to kill him. As he watched, Notesurfer finished reloading, and fired off another clip at him. Only one of the 8 bullets even came close enough to hit within 10 feet of his position, the others pinged wildly off of walls and rocks far from his position.
This is rediculous, he knows I could kill him easily. Draxas emerged from his cover, and shouted to the again reloading Notesurfer, "Lower your weapon, Notesurfer! I could have killed you ten times over by now, and you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at this range and you know it! I don't want to fight you!"
Notesurfer had raised his weapon to fire again, but he lowered it as Draxas had asked. Draxas in turn lowered his Devaststor.
"Come on Notesurfer, if it's a fight you want, you'll get it, but first, we talk. Tell me why we're here! Tell me why you want to duel against me so much! Tell me what in blue blazes is going on!"
Notesurfer remained silent, but he did not attempt to start combat again. Draxas waited for Notesurfer to start giving him some answers.
OOC: Raven, Dr. Jackson, could you guys please hold off on posting until Notesurfer posts first? Thanks.

OOC:I have a lot of work to do in a very short time so this is gonna be small.
IC: Ranger had been waiting for much to long to be fun for him. Suddenly the voice went into his head from his comm. Arena Change report to Area 51. His wish was true he was going back to his home arena. He had served as a top rate gaurd for a short time and still had the blueprints burned into his head.
Ranger called The Undead quickly and then got out a manual control system he switched over to it and began to pilot the ship toward a rock wall. Ranger himself backed away from the wall he had just been at. He shot off a rocket and then began peppering the wall with Vulcan fire. The bullets all hit the wall and weakened it then the rocket hit and the wall completely collapsed.
Ranger walked out and jumped into his ship which was now hovering slightly. He input the coordinates and was instantly off to the new arena. In almost no time at all he arrived set the ship the way it had been before getting out of those caves. He looked around and went into the area with the two giant elevators he stood at one of the doors looking at the worn metal.
"Home..."

Arena change, arena change...Area 51, Area 51... said the comm link in Raven's ear. Raven was shocked at the sound of the arena change. Bad memories... "Crap, we're in the Villa," Jackson said. "Come on, let's get back on the ship, we need to get there," he added. "Yeah..." Raven replied. Raven wondered at the prospect of going back to Area 51. He had left there without telling anyone, stolen a hoverbike, and killed at least two people. What would happen if he went back? Would he be arrested? Or would the guards just fire on sight? Reluctantly, he walked back onto the ship as Jackson set the coordinates for takeoff. About an hour later, they were landing on Area 51's grounds. "Where is everyone?" Raven asked. "Well, this is a PDBA event, so they cleared it all out. There's no one here, and anything goes," Jackson replied. "At least, that's what I assume is going on..." Raven should have known. Of course they wouldn't have guards in Area 51, the PDBA wouldn't want "interference" in their event. Relieved, Raven breathed a little easier. As the door opened, Raven loaded his new Phoenix, as well as his Falcons. He took off his extra clothing for the winter climate, leaving him with his jeans, boots, and green T-shirt. He placed his Falcons in the belt holser and put his Uplink and Laser in his pockets. "I'm ready," Raven said. The ramp opened and the two of them walked out. OOC: Didn't do too much, Draxas, just got us to Area 51. I won't interfere unless you post us doing so. Also, I love the fact how you write the impossibilities of my posts in your own.

"So this is where Joanna entered Area 51?" Walking the only way available, they came out to where mos of the fighting would be happening. Walking over to the helipad where a bunch of crates were stacked. Looking at one of the names on the crates they read:
To: Dr. Jackson From: Acme Ammo
"Raven, watch these crates while I get the ship." Jackson said, while he ran back to the ship Raven watched the crates. The ship landed Jackson opened the back ramp leading the cargo hold. Grabbing a low floating hover gurney, he loaded the crates into the hold, flew the ship back to the helipad on the edge of the base and rejoined Raven.
"What was in those crates?" Raven asked
"Ammo, for the armory, I was running low I had them send it here."

OOC: Merlin stop posting nonsense in the arena you too Jackson. If you want to banter about stuff take it to the shout box at bottom or PM eachother. Keep the topic free of junk posts though. If you are gonna post put your character doing something too. he he Raven I used to be a gaurd for Area 51 so maybe I can settle that little score for you.
IC: Ranger turned around at the sound of ships flying in. Company was showing up rather quickly. He opened the elevator and made it go down to the lower levels of Area 51. He started walking through the area and stopped in the large room with an elevator and too many crates to be right. He looked around quickly and then pulled out his calisto. He was enjoying his visit home.

Post by Notesurfer on Oct 18, 2003 15:53:56 GMT -5
Chapter 1 Notesurfer moved his lips quietly.
"What did you say?" Draxas asked, stepping closer. Notesurfer said it again, louder this time.
"I said, you haven't changed much." Puzzled, Draxas stepped forward again.
"Alright Notesurfer, it's time for truth or dare, and you are under obligation to do truth." Notesurfer sighed and ran his fingers through his short hair.
"You don't remember me at all do you Draxas? None of it?" A wave of sadness shook Notesurfer, though it didn't appear to be because of Draxas' faulty memory, but of something he himself was remembering.
"Tell me Notesurfer, and I might." Draxas said, trying to help. Wordlessly, Notesurfer jumped, an incredible leap of twenty feet, and landed on Draxas shoulder, significantly reduced in size. Notesurfer, in his shrunken form, laid his hands on Draxas' neck, and a spasm ran through him involuntarily. He felt something cold slither up the side of his neck from where Notesurfer stood, a small thread of cold. It went up, still connected to Notesurfer, and into his head via his ear. And then, he saw his life flash before his eyes. It was as though someone was flipping through his mind like a book, seeing all the things he had seen, and replaying them before his own eyes. Finally, it got to one of his earliest memories, and he remembered. He was only fourteen, and he was on a hike. The hike was in Scotland, and he heard himself correct the guide on something she had said. Something trivial, but enough to annoy the guide. Already he had known that he was meant to go into the scientific field, and he was sure he was right. However, he let the guide have her way, having the wisdom to keep the peace. He remembered looking down and seeing a face in the crowd. As if in slow motion, the bemused face flashed by. Even without the storm in the eyes he recognized the face. It was Notesurfer. His mouthed moved, and he said something to back Draxas up. The guide, thoroughly flustered, turned and walked off, saying something about the surrounding scenery as the group followed. He turned and introduced himself to the face he now recognized as Notesurfer. Notesurfer was introducing himself, but his memory was faulty, he couldn't understand what Notesurfer was saying, what was his name! A wave of disappointment reverberated through his head, and he realized it was from Notesurfer. Apparently he had been hoping that he could use Draxas' memory to recover his name. It passed quickly though, and the scene continued. Notesurfer cocked his head, and motioned for Draxas to catch up with the main group. Intrigued, Draxas realized that this was the legendary hike that Notesurfer must have acquired Schzar on. Suddenly, the scenery changed.
Now Draxas saw himself in a crowded resturant. In front of him was a man and a woman, in a suit and red dress respectively. He remembered the shadowy figure that walked in, not because of his height, or his strange taste in clothes, it was the eyes. The stormy blue eyes were unmistakeable. Four more scenes flashed before him in succession. In each one there was a stormy blue-eyed figure, watching him. The final scene Draxas remembered most vividly. He was in a jungle. Surrounding him were large cat-like animals, almost ten feet long each, and trying to kill him. With no weapons but his bionic arm, he had defeated three of them. Unfortunatly, he had taken serious damage, and he knew that he would not survive the next attack. Suddenly he heard a noise above him, and a small, caped figure crashed down out of the trees, foot first, and mutilated the closest animal's head. Together, the two warriors had defeated the rest of the beasts. He remembered most vividly now, that the figure had turned it's head and smiled. Inside the hood of the cape, the eyes had glowed blue, storm clouds gathering.
“You have to realize” started Notesurfer as the two resumed their former positions. “That your dimension-traveling was not completely random. Every-other time you died, you appeared back in this dimension, only in a different place. Every time, I tracked you down, for reasons that even I do not quite fully understand at the moment. I . . . I thought you would want to know . . .” Notesurfer's foot traced patterns in the sand, not knowing what to say next. Draxas opened his mouth . . .
OOC: That is, if it's ok with you Draxas . . . your post!

Draxas opened his mouth, and whispered "Impossible!" The corner of Notesurfer's mouth twitched upwards, "Not impossible, it's just... what happened." "But, how? It doesn't make sense!" Draxas considered this last statement, and added, "Not that anything that has happened to me makes any sense, but especially not this!" Notesurfer frowned. "I can't explain why it happened. All that I know is that we've met before, many times. You know it now too." "But the others... Everyone I knew, I never found them again... My friends, my parents, my sister... I never saw any of them again. And you're telling me that I've just been overlooking them? That they've been right in front of me the whole time? It can't be possible..." Notesurfer shrugged. "The world works in mysterious ways. I know what it's like to have the world leave you behind. I haven't seen my family in about 200 years." He shuddered slightly, "There are always things to question, always times to ask 'Why did this happen to me?' Why have I been drawn to you, so many times over the years? I don't know, and I don't think you do either. But these things happen." Draxas remained silent, but his mind was working furiously. It's been so long... Where could they have gone? When I first started jumping between dimensions, I always looked for people I knew. I never found anyone, but why not? And why am I drawn back here...Draxas looked up from his reverie. "This is a lot to take in... I never dreamed that I would appear again in the same place that I started, I always just assumed it was somewhere similar. After all of the insane ways I've seen mankind go down the wrong path, I started to take for granted the fact that sometimes, things went right. I could have never imagined that this is the only place where things DO go right..." Notesurfer sighed. "That's hardly reassuring, you know." Draxas snorted. "It's sometimes disgusting knowing what people do to themselves. I've seen some truly horrible things, and the worst ones are always caused by other people." he sighed, "I can remember one place in particular. I was only there for a short time, before I was killed. It was a lovely place, that I had a chance to see. A nice suburban community, charming homes, what would have been a thriving town." Notesurfer looked at Draxas quizzically, and Draxas narrowed his eyes. "Except for one thing. Everyone was dead. Hell, every living thing in that small, charming town was dead. Every plant, every animal, every insect, every bird, every man, woman, and child, all dead. There were corpses everywhere. From what I could piece together in the town library, these people had developed neutron bomb technology. The final newspaper that I found had stories about war being declared. I think you can guess what happened. "This isn't the only place I've seen like that. I've been killed within hours of arriving at some places, because they're radioactive wastelands. It's atrocious what we will do to each other, if given half a chance. It doesn't say much for the human race if most of the worlds that turn out relatively good ARE ALL THE SAME PLACE!" Notesurfer was taken aback by this outburst. "I never imagined... I don't know what to say..." Draxas sighed. "I'm sorry, it's not really worth getting angry over, is it. 'Live for the present, because you never know where you might end up tomorrow,' is what I always used to say. That phrase took on new meaning when I started bouncing between dimensions. But now, as it turns out," he smiled weakly, "I can bet on being back here before too long." "Regardless, I'm glad that you told me about this," said Draxas. "At least, I'll know who to look up next time I'm in the neighborhood." Draxas grinned, and extended a hand toward Notesurfer. Notesurfer clasped it, and Draxas said, "Thanks." "You know, there is still an arena set up at Area 51," said Notesurfer, "We should probably head there and meet up with our teammates again. Though yours were here, and left shortly thereafter..." The anger of being deceived came welling back up again. "Ah yes, our teammates," growled Draxas. "I still have a little score to settle with the Slayers." Notesurfer looked a bit surprised at this, but said instead, "All right, we'll continue our discussion after this battle is over. I think we both have some unanswered questions." "Yes, I think we do... I assume that once we arrive at Area 51, I can count on business as usual, so to speak, if I encounter you." Notesurfer grinned. "Sorry, I'm still a member of the N-Bombs, and we're not accepting applications." "Understood. In the meantime though, it's a long walk to Nevada," Draxas grinned as well, "so if you don't mind, I think we ought to get started." Notesurfer laughed, and said, "I think I can arrange some transportation." OOC: Notesurfer, if you want to continue this now, then we can do so in transit. If not, PM me about where this is going please.

"What did we do wrong?" Jackson asked.
"About what?" Raven asked puzzled.
"About Draxas, what did we do?" Jackson said a bit enraged.
They were sitting in Med Lab 2 behind the bulletproof glass. Jackson at a desk, Raven on a hover gurney. Jackson started to play around with his P90, flipping the safty on and off.
"Jackson, JACKSON!!!!" Raven said.
"Huh, oh, sorry, guess I just, lost concentration, I just wish I knew what happened with Draxas." Jackson said
"Well talk to him when he gets here." Raven said as Ranger walked in. Jackson walked out the back door, around to the side door, opened it a bit, and tossed an N-Bomb out, then he walked out and shot Ranger 2 times, once in the leg, second in the chest.
