Name: Rory Bismarck
Alias: Bismarck
Appearance: Bismarck is tall, lean, clean-shaven, and well groomed, though his appearance belies his disproportionately great strength. He has close-cropped brown hair, and a set of distinctive emerald green eyes. He looks to be in his early twenties, and is just handsome enough that people notice, without drawing too much undue attention. His demeanor is calm and kind, but behind that is a shrewd and calculating intellect capable of quickly analyzing a situation for the path of greatest benefit.
Clothing: Bismarck wears clothes that are functional, rather than flashy. His garb is a rather drab brown in color, and would not look out of place on a typical city worker or artisan, though his clothes are kept as clean as his circumstances will allow. When adventuring, he will wear his armor over the top of his clothes, bulking up his figure significantly and making him look rather more intimidating than usual.
Characteristics: Resourceful, keen, and possesed of well-hidden strength
History: Rory Bismarck is the eldest son of Lord Reginald Bismarck, a very wealthy merchant from a city many leagues away from Suryan. Growing up, young Rory lived a life of luxury as his father groomed him to take over the family trading company. However, Rory was not pleased and craved excitement in what was a very dull childhood. He quickly took a keen interest in swordplay, and his father allowed him to take lessons as a hobby, since fencing was considered a gentleman's sport and pastime. However, Rory's skill and interest in the blade far surpassed his father's expectation, and began to obscure the path that was chosen for him at birth.
When Rory turned 14, he announced his intention to become a knight's squire to further his education in the ways of the warrior, but his father forbade it. Unfazed, Rory left the family manor during the night against his father's wishes, and served as a squire until the age of 18, when he was to become a Knight Errant, the next stage in his knightly training. However, his many years as a squire had soured Rory's opinion of the Knights. He saw chivalry as a rediculous and dated concept, and was appalled at the way scores of knights were sent to their deaths needlessly at the command of their lords, often over petty matters which could easily have been resolved without conflict. Disgusted with the fate that ay in store if he continued his training, Rory returned home rather than accept the yoke of a lord as a Knight Errant.
However, much had changed in the Bismarck family over those 4 years. Rory's father had shifted his attentions to his second son, who was far more enthusiastic about the family business. Encouraged by his younger son's desire to follow in his footsteps and keen business mind, and still bitter over his perceived betrayal by his oldest son, he disowned Rory and declared his brother the sole heir to the Bismarck family fortune and business. When Rory returned to the manor, he found the gates locked and barred, his family unwilling to acknowledge his existence, and was turned away by his father's personal guards.
Since that time, Rory Bismarck has wandered the lands of Terra as a mercenary and adventurer. He has, thus far, made a decent living for himself from the spoils of battle and his fee as a mercenary. His skill with the blade has only improved over time, and this has allowed him to command a high price... But peaceful times in other lands have been hard on his income. So he finds himself arriving in Suryan, the biggest city in these parts, following the prospect of some more lucrative work.
