The Adventurer's Guide to Upgrading Equipment

The contents of this book detail the common upgrades available from craftsmen, as well as the results of socketing runes and other items into various pieces of equipment. While a few entries are detailed in the rune section, however, many have been left blank, awaiting a brave adventurer to attempt the socketing and record the results.

Mundane Upgrades
Note: All of these upgrades, once performed, are irreversible. All of these upgrades can only be applied once to a given piece of equipment.

Wide Pommel
Description: Adds +5 to physical defense when attacked with a melee weapon.
Allowed equipment: 1-handed swords
Cost: 50 XP

Serrated Edge
Description: Adds +5 to attack damage. Cannot be combined with Swordbreaker Edge.
Allowed equipment: 1-handed swords, knives
Cost: 75 XP

Swordbreaker Edge
Description: Adds +5 to attack damage, and +5 to physical defense against melee weapons. Cannot be combined with Serrated Edge.
Allowed equipment: 1-handed swords, knives
Cost: 150 XP

Heavy Draw
Description: Adds +10 to attack damage, and +10 to the bow's STR requirement.
Allowed equipment: bows
Cost: 100 XP

Heavy-duty Springs
Description: Adds +10 to attack damage.
Allowed equipment: crossbows
Cost: 100 XP

Spiked Head
Description: Adds +5 to attack damage.
Allowed equipment: blunt weapons
Cost: 75 XP

Spiked Shoulders
Description: Adds +5 to attack damage when wielding a melee weapon.
Allowed equipment: metal armor
Cost: 100 XP

Runic Embroidery
Description: Adds +5 to magic damage when casting spells.
Allowed equipment: robes
Cost: 150 XP

Spiked Surface
Description: Adds +5 to attack damage.
Allowed equipment: shields
Cost: 150 XP
