You enter a small and cheery shop specializing in robes and cloaks. The shop is filled with racks of clothing, and the finest wares are draped over mannequins set so that they stand out when you first enter the shop. A man in a finely tailored and freshly pressed suit stands near the counter with a tape measure wrapped around his hand, and quietly asks you if he can help you find something to your liking.

Nayton wandered into the shop, the door creaking shut behind him. His eyes first landed on the exquisite robes and gowns fitted on the manequins, and then drifted his gaze to the racks of apparel. From behind the counter he heard a soft-spoken voice.
"Good day, I'm Bartholomew, the owner of the place. How may I help you?"
Nayton walked up to the counter and responded "Uh, yes, I'm looking for an Esmerelda. Does she work here?"

"Indeed she does," replied Bartholomew, "She is in the back right now. If you wait one moment, I'll go and fetch her."
Bartholomew bowed slightly to Nayton, and then retreated through a door behind the counter, which he closed behind him. Nayton was left alone in the shop among the fine garments.

Nayton waited patiently in the shop for several minutes before the back door was finally opened once again. Batholomew emerged from the back, along with a thin, plainly dressed middle aged woman. He gestured at Nayton and said, "There he is."
She walked gracefully over to Nayton, bowed to him slightly, and said, "Hello, young man. My name is Esmerelda, and Bartholomew tells me you would like to speak with me. So, what can I help you with?"

"Yes, I was given this letter from Layla to deliver to you," Nayton said, pulling ths sealed envelope from his travel pack. He closed the distance between himself and Esmerelda and handed her the letter.

Nayton hands over Layla's letter.
"Oh my," said Esmerelda, "You came all this way just to deliver this to me? And it looks like it wasn't an easy journey, either," she said, apparently noting Nayton's bruises. She worked open the tab on the envelope.
"Well, let's see what Layla has to say," she said, as she began to read the letter. Almost immediately, her face fell into a frown.
"Er," she began, turning back to Nayton, "Layla was always a bit on the... um, eccentric side... But I'm not sure what to make of this." She flipped the page toward Nayton, and he read a few lines of the meticulous writing. It was quite obviously some sort of grocery list.
"I can't imagine she meant to send me this, but I hate to trouble you... Ohhh..." she groused, and began to pace the floor.
"Look," she said again after a moment, "This is obviously the wrong letter. I hate to make you go back on my account, especially since it looks like the roads have gotten dangerous, but could you please go back to Suryan and tell Layla she sent the wrong letter?"
"And before you leave, here," she said, fishing around in a pocket and handing Nayton a handful of coins, as well as the letter, "You should get that treated, or at least have a rest. It's the least I can do after all the effort you're putting in for nothing."
Nayton receives 20 XP. Nayton receives Layla's Gracery List (Quest Item).

"Blah, what a bummer." Nayton sighed heavily, stowing the paper back in his travel pack. His main instinct was to go out and purchase the items in case he would have to buy them and save the trip, but he figured he'd better not risk it.
"Well, I guess I'll stock up on supplies and check out the town while I'm here, then head back to Suryan." Nayton headed for the door. The bell chimed as he exited the building.

"Good luck, and I'm sorry to put you through all the trouble!" called Esmerelda to Nayton as he left.
Nayton found himself back outside, near the town square.
