"I was headed in the opposite direction actually. Can you tell me what I should expect down the road on the way through here and where is the next city I can come across to restock?" Ranger asked. He took a quick look at the ghouls that had attacked from the other side and wondered if he should come back later to pick them all clean of anything they might have.

"Well, the pass continues north for quite a while yet," replied the guard, "We've already beaten back one other ambush on this trip, and there might be other bandits who are more apt to prey on solitary travellers. Be cautious if you continue on."
"Once you leave the valley, you'll be in the lands of North Terra. The first village you should come across is Ghen. There isn't a whole lot to it; it mostly exists as a stopover for anyone passing through Prydwen. It should serve you well enough as a place to rest and stock up on some basic necessities, but don't expect too much; if I have you pegged right, you're looking for an Adventurer's Guild, and they don't have one. You'll need to head into the larger cities for that."
As the guards who had scaled the cliff returned to the valley floor, the one who had been doing most of the talking said, "We need to get moving again. With a caravan of any size, sitting still for too long in this place is like asking to be attacked again. So, if you plan on continuing northward, best of luck on your travels; if not, you would be more than welcome to join us for the last leg of our trip."

"I will continue north but thanks for the advice and I'm glad I could be of some service to you. Enjoy Suryan!" Ranger said to the guards as he popped out a potion and gulped it down.

Ranger recovers 50 HP.
"Good journey to you!" called the guard, and they turned back to the lead wagon. Moments after the last guard climbed aboard, the wagons started to move again. Three wagons passed Ranger by on their way to the south end of the pass, leaving Ranger alone amid the dust of their passing.

Ranger carefully made his way back up the walls of the pass and began again along his way north darting from one cover to another keeping an open eye for bandits always bow at ready.

Ranger was fortunate in the fact that the area he was attempting to climb seemed to be very well used, probably by raiding parties like the one he had encountered. It was difficult, but not impossible, going reaching the ledge above the valley.
Ranger continued on his way north, following the twists of the hidden path as it wound near and far from the cliffside. He stayed alert for danger, though all seemed to be quiet for now.
Some distance down the road, the path Ranger was following forked. The path that went left seemed to continue to follow the valley pass, more or less. The path to the right wound instead away from the valley, and headed farther up into the mountains before it curved out of sight.

Ranger continued on the pathway that lead through following the valley. Hoping the pass was the only way through the mountains which meant the only way to Ghen.

Ranger continued along the path nearer to the cliff face, following the twists and turns as they brought him further north. The pass was much longer than he had initially expected, and seemed to continue on forever...
Ranger froze as a low growl broke the silence. His eyes darted around, trying to pinpoint its source, but all he saw was the path among the craggy rocks. It was coming from somwhere close, though, and ahead of him as well...

Ranger kept still as he could looking for any nearby cover he could use should it be something ready to attack him. He kept his eyes open and bow at ready so he could be ready to catch whatever it was as.

Ranger looked for the source of the growling, which showed no signs of letting up, as he stood rooted to the spot. His eyes darted about frantically as he saw and heard the rocks of the pass fall from the cliff wall above and scatter across his path. He turned his gaze upward then, and finally spotted the source of the danger.
A rather large cat, probably a cougar or mountain lion, was stalking down from the cliffside ahead of him. He had overlooked it before since its coloration matched the mountain's almost perfectly, but now that he was able to focus his view on it, he could see it clearly. The fur on its back was raised, and it was now obvious that it was the source of the growling as well. It moved slowly and deliberately towards Ranger, and was poised as if to pounce, though it made no sudden moves to that effect just yet.
