Yes Nintendo is making yet another SSB game, but it is much more beautifully animated, and I believe the characters are to have ultimate attacks. Players like Meta-Knight, Cupid, and warrior. But a old friend calls, and yes you herd me right....you will be able to play as Mr.Snake(Solid Snake) and Link will be in his TP costume.

Cupid and warrior?
Confirmed for the new game:
Solid Snake MetaKnight Pit Wario Fusion Suit Samus
I speculate that the last may be just an alternate costume, or perhaps Samus's design has been altered permanently and the original design is no longer available (though I can't say I've seen the trailers).
As most of you have probably heard, N has a suggestions site for additional characters to add to the game, as well as musical suggestions. However, I would highly reccommend you don't bother with it unless you are fluent in writing Japanese, since it is on the Nintendo of Japan website.
Also, one of the latest articles of Gamespot is currently placing the price for the Wii under $250 at launch. Amazing how big news for one game and such a low price figure can get me excited about a machine, whereas a month ago I thought I would be sitting this entire generation out. Then again, that pretty much sounds like how I handled the GCN.
Speculation:
Who else do you suppose they will include in the new game? The old April Fools joke from EGM about Sonic and Tails for SSBM caused such a furor, that people still occasionally ask how to unlock them in the game. Can Nintendo and Sega actually work a deal that will get them in the game this time around? This is a much more feasible idea now that a third-party character (Snake) has already been confirmed for the game.
More speculative characters:
Toad - Many people feel that he's gotten the shaft as far as SMB characters, and want to see him in the game. Doesn't seem too likely, though. Someone from the latest Fire Emblem game - A few of the trailers feature a stage with a castle, flying a flag that seems to match one found in FE. It seems likely that a character from the same game will be included, but how different would he/she be from Marth and Roy? Krystal - With her return in StarFox Assault, it seems like Krystal has become a permanent fixture for the games. Does this mean she will get some screentime in Smash as another character from the series? Who knows. Someone from F-Zero GX - Captain Falcon has been the only representative from the series since the first game, but in GX they increased the roster to 40+ racers. Is it possible that they will include someone else from the game? Villains like Deathborn or Black Shadow would probably be fan favorites, but are there enough of those fans to justify the reference? Someone from Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest - As some of you may have heard, Nobuo Uematsu of FF fame is going to be composing music for the game. Does this mean the SquareEnix is peripherally involved in the same way as Konami? If so, this would seem like a logical choice. Then again, new installments of both series haven't been seen on Nin's consoles since the SNES (barring spinoff titles); would Smash Bros. feature characters that have never appeared on an N console at all. Most likely not, and that excludes most of the likely candidates in this category. Alex - A personal favorite, from Eternal Darkness. Somehow I figure that it'll be overlooked, but I can speculate, right? Another Pokemon - They've added several with each installment. But is there anything feasible left for playable characters (as opposed to Pokeball fodder, which is practically guaranteed to feature a mass of new-to-Smash Pokemon)? Someone still unseen from a new Wii title - Seems extremely likely, considering that a Smash reference would help to move the new games as well. Who this might be is, of course, truly wild speculation, considering these are all new characters.

*Cheers for Pit* Seriously I would hope to see some of the other older characters get their shot. I wonder if they could get away with putting the kid from Harvest Moon in somehow hahaha.

I've seen the trailer.
Zero Suit Samus will have to be a TOTALLY different character. Hell, she uses a beam saber/gun.
There WILL be super attacks.

I'm not so sure. The way Zero-Suit Samus was introduced was as Samus changing completely.

Yeah, so? The difference between Samus and Zero Suit Samus is like the difference between Link and Young Link, or Mario and Dr. Mario.
Zero Suit Samus is a totally different character. They aren't removing any characters.
That scene in the trailer was simply cinematic. They show off Samus' new super attack, AND a new playable character at the same time.

Sounds pretty sweet... Now, do you think they'll make Ridley playable as well? That would make the Metroid fanatic in me very happy indeed.

Huh...so it's not voluntary reversible either, like Zelda/Sheik.

Actually, it sounds very much like it might be... maybe. In truth, it sounds more like she loses the suit when exposed to certain environmental conditions or attacks or something. Well, who knows; I'm sure we'll hear more before long.

Perhaps something like Vega's claw in Street Fighter.

Too much abuse destroys the suit? Possible, but it seems to run counter to the general tendency in Smash, which is to make insane recoveries at huge damage %. Forcing a character to become lighter (and thus, easier to knock off the stage) would seem to be fairly crippling.

something tells me they would make amends for that. I personally would like to see some space pirates become somewhat like the wire frame models
