Apparently there's a warrant out for my arrest. Details to follow. d-:

This is why you need to pay your parking tickets on time!

Brief synopsis: apparently the organization that I borrowed my laptop from already sent me packaging materials and therefore thought that I had no intention of returning it. All has been rectified however.

Indeed. It did, however, make driving in PA a delicate and slightly nerve-wracking proposition, given that I have no speedometer and therefore could easily be pulled over for speeding and then be arrested vis a vis the warrant.

Perhaps it's better not to ask why you don't have a speedometer.

My whole dash panel doesn't work - no gas gauge, odometer, tach, speed, heat, etc. So far I haven't gotten a ticket for speeding or run out of gas, so I must be managing it well. d-:

My first car had a busted gas gauge, but I was able to use the trip meter to compensate. Only ran out of gas twice before it died! Dare I ask how much it would be to fix it?

$500 off the top just to rip out the dash - additional $300 if the guy has to replace it, but only the OG $500 if he figures out how to fix it. There's some kind of loose connection in there. Right now the more pressing concern is my exhaust leak - I've got a nice hole rusted out of the muffler. I figure a patch might hold for a while, but I'd rather replace the whole thing. In the meantime it makes a very satisfying vroom vroom. ^_^

This really does sound a lot like my first car, since I had to replace the entire exhaust system for the same reason. Be sure to have the timing chain / belt looked at; that's what killed mine way back when. Of course, more modern vehicles have versions that won't break... usually.

'93 Mustang had the timing belt go out on me very close to a major intersection. Engine essentially cut off since the gas pedal was no longer feeding it gas, but what got me most was that the brakes completely locked up. Was far enough away that I was able to coast to a stop without any trouble, but it could have been disastrous to go plowing into an intersection without control.
