i had no idea they were even doing the hobbit. i probably should have, when you think about it.
on topic, has anybody made any new years resolutions? mine's more like a list of [CENSORED] to do, but, here goes: - go on roaccutane, finally get rid of my acne for good - get a handful of piercings, lip first, then redo my ear and get a small gauge, then get my nipple done with the girlfriend, maybe eyebrow done sometime after - decide on a small tattoo to remind myself of my life up until that point, as it'll all be changing from next year onwards - finally have a serious relationship for all of 2008 and hopefully beyond - finally bother to get my license for when i need to get around when i move at the end of the year - get a 4-6 month gym membership when i turn 18 and start a building myself up (they won't let you join for bodybuilding type stuff until you're fully developed and 18 is when they'll consider you) - find a job in this small town, hell of a lot harder than it sounds
all in all, a pretty big self improvement kind of year. and i plan to stick to most of these.

-be more outgoing -pick the guitar back up -quit drinking energy drinks/soda all the time -start running/biking again -put more effort into my classes -get out of the dining hall and get a job in town
Be warned they're fairly addicting. I got one for my 18th with some friends and then a few months later I ended up getting another with my step mother and right now I'm fighting the temptation to get another for my birthday next month. Not that I don't plan to get another, but I'd like to stagger it a while and put a bit more thought into it than I did the first two; I'd like something more artistic, higher quality.

my one will be fairly small, and if i ever want to, very easy to remove. if painful. it'll be 666 in binary, which is 1010011010 i believe, on my inner left wrist in quite small print. reminds me of how i used to be a huge pain in the ass with my anti-religion opinions (among others), and how i was a gigantic computer nerd which i have shied away from.. mostly, anyway. it'll just remind me of this pretty cool period of my life which helped me grow as a person.

Resolutions? Bah, humbug!
Incidentally, were you aware, Niff, that 666 is also in every barcode in barcode-code, which I believe is a distorted form of binary (someone correct me if I'm wrong)?

Looks like I'll be getting around to reading I Am Legend; one of the two "textbooks" needed for my American Studies [AMST 201]: "The American Gothic" happens to be I Am Legend, which I happened to have brought with me from home. This is assuming the class turns out to be somewhat interesting and I keep it.
EDIT: turns out the full course name is "AMST 201D American Gothic: Horror in US History and Culture"

I'd be interested in knowing what the other book was for that class . . .

Turns out there are actually a few more listed that weren't on the Bookstore's required readings, but we also have to read:
Jay Anson, The Amityville Horror (New York: Pocket Books, 2005, 1977) Charles Brockden Brown, Wieland (New York: Penguin, 1991) Maryse Conde, I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem (New York: Ballantine Books, 1994) Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House (New York: Penguin, 2006) Richard Matheson, I Am Legend (New York: Tor Books, 1995)
We're also watching a few movies: An American Haunting, Courtney Solomon (2005) The Haunting, Robert Wise (1963) Poltergeist II: The Other Side, Brian Gibson (1986) The Omega Man, Boris Sagal (1971)
He also mentioned perhaps doing a Resident Evil movie instead of Heston in Omega Man, and there's talk of adding a few others in based on class submissions.

I neglected to put start going to the gym on my resolutions list because I assumed it would never happen, but lo and behold 16 days after the new year I actually stepped foot in one and tried out various machines and free weights. On a related note I feel kind of sore now, so I'll probably feel like I got hit by a truck tomorrow.
