New principal.
Security's jumping kids for having drinks/food in the hallways, and the vending machines are in the hallways....
A few classes are in WECC (Warwick Early Childhood Center) right next to the school. So now, 2 of my classes are in a pre-school. It takes an extra 2 minutes to get from WHS to WECC, so kids are often late to class. When it rains, folks get wet getting from building to building. They play annoying kiddie music on the announcements and they couldn't turn it off in the HS rooms for the first 2 weeks. We were learning the pledge of allegiance again. "Wonderful Whale Wednesday". Even when they disabled the PA it's still audible through the walls (partitions, rather).
Instead of having 2 lunch periods with a halved 5th period (homeroom), they've added a third lunch and made 5th period even longer, shortening the other classes by about 5 minutes. So now you get an uneven balance of class time, and frickin' three lunches so you've got a 1/3 chance of being with your only 2 friends as opposed to a 1/2 chance. They stopped letting kids eat outside, so the cafeteria is still just as crowded - hardly got any better.
School's got about 400 more kids than can fit.
Freshmen don't have to take the PSAT........ wtf. I had to do it when I was a freshling.
School is no longer supplying buses for band/sports/other activities, due to gas or whatever, so kids aren't gonna be able to really participate n' such as easily if they can't get to and from school.
They moved the announcements to the last 6 minutes of 3rd / 4th period... completely awkward time. Not to mention, if you're in WECC, you don't hear any important announcements.
Bell schedules are at completely dumb intervals: 8:52, 10:29, 11:05, 12:23, 2:05.
I heard rumors that kids are having to triple-up to lockers now. That and/or 39% don't even have lockers.
You've only got 3 minutes to get to classes during the lunch/5th block, and the bell rings like 4 times too many during this time.
etc.
On a related note to school...
Apparently during the PSAT in what is usually my IB german IV class, this happened: at 8:00 the clocks wind faster to make sure they're all aligned, so they make this relatively loud whirring noise as they reach 8:00 and wait for activation. This one kid got PO'd at the noise and stood up, punched the clock, found out it was glass-covered, bloodied up his hand, broke the clock, etc.etc.etc.etc.
Kind of funny.
