Ranger hands over a dead Spitter Weed.
"Oh good good!" said Brother Gerard jubilantly as he took the plant from Ranger, "I had tried to dissect the other one, but the internal damage was much more severe than it had at first seemed, and I wasn't able to tell much about it. However, this specimen looks much more promising!"
"Hmm," Brother Gerard intoned, after studying the plant for a moment, "I should like to get started on this right away. Please come see me again sometime; I may have discovered something new about this mysterious plant. In the meantime, I've also set aside a little something for all your trouble. Go ahead and speak with Sister Juliet about it in the main hall. May the gods go with you, and thank you once again!"
Brother Gerard wasted no time in opening the tome he had been reading earlier and eagerly flipping through the pages, a huge grin causing his face to be criss-crossed with laugh lines.

"Thank You Gerard," Ranger said graciously. He turned and left back to the main hall and found Sister Juliet.
"Good day sister, Brother Gerard said he has given you something for me... My name is Ranger," Ranger said with respect.

"Ah yes, Brother Gerard asked me to set this package aside for you," replied Sister Juliet, as she retrieved a small bundle from the shelf and handed it to Ranger, "He said that these were some of his best herbal medicines... I do hope they help you with your... er, problem," she said, and blushed slightly.
"Good journey, and may the gods go with you."

Ranger grumbled a bit about the stupid joke continuing. He figured it wasn't worth trying to explain it. He took the package and gave a gracious thank you and took the parcel.
"If Gerard needs me tell him I will be back later or to send a telegram to Kestral," Ranger said. He turned for the main door and made his way out of town.

Ranger walked in and found the door to the libraries Looking for a monk nearby to admit him to see Gerard.

It was not long before one of the monks approached Ranger, and asked who he was here to see. When Ranger mentioned Brother Gerard, the monk shook his head.
"I'm sorry," he said, "But Brother Gerard is deep in study right now. He seems to have gotten ahold of some sort of new species of plant, and he has been furiously examining it and poring over his books ever since. He has asked not to be disturbed, so I'm afraid I can't bring you to see him right now."

"Thank you. I was just coming to see if he had made any leeway with it so far," Ranger said with a smile. He turned for the door, "I'll be back later perhaps."

"Very well, may the gods go with you on your travels," replied the monk, as he headed off to tend to his own business.
