So folks. We want to do something. What do we do?
Do we want to try again at the Generations idea? Do we want to just have another normal arena? Do we want to just have random RP going on in here? Do we want to try going to IRC? (Yes, I still haven't given up on that hope...)
Talk to me here.

My preference goes to either 2 or 3. Then again, I'm kind of biased against Generations because I was in something of a creative drought at the time. If that's whateveryone else wants to do, I can dig it (at least, after some major character reworking).
IRC remains something I would prefer to avoid.
EDIT: A summer CISOD would definitely be awesome, though I doubt we could pull one together. But I'd be willing to try if others are too.

I'm still somewhat skeptical about how well IRC would work for the PDBA. I think it could work well for just random arenas, though I imagine it might get to be a little too hectic if there are several people typing stuff at once (but then again, what are the odds we'll ever have more than 3 people on at once).
My question is if you log out of the IRC channel, and come back an hour later, will the old messages still be there? Or is it totally instanced? What I like about message boards is you can post whenever and still be up-to-date with everything. You know, you can post, do something else for an hour, come back and post again. But that's not to say there's anything wrong with instant-battling.
Anyway, I'm with Draxas on the CISOD idea; that's what I'd be most interested in. Since I'm considering possibly studying writing/language/whatever in college, it'd be nice to do a CISOD for something more expository, where development and plot are the central ideas, along with the of action of the random arenas. And of course, the idea of the plot gives more motivation to stick with it, cause after a couple of fights in random arenas I expect I'd probably go MIA.
The other question is how many would be participating in this? I expect there'd be at least regular posts by Draxas, Razor, and myself; not too sure about the rest, although Niff and Ranger lurk a lot, could perhaps email some of the other members and mention it on AG.

How about CISOD + number 1, with some reworking?
Also, with IRC: You can set it to ARCHIVE what has been said in a channel. It would be MADE to run faster...and trust me, I've been involved in RP with about seven or eight other people going at the same time, and it works FINE. Generally, with a lot of people in a freeform setting, you just take turns.
The action moves a lot faster, and you don't have to assume other people's actions for them. As such, posts can be short and quick, and don't need to be more than a paragraph at a time, really.
Trust me. IRC works GREAT for FFRP like the PDBA. A single battle, instead of taking 5 posts and a week to resolve, would take an ABUNDANCE of posts, but only take a few hours real-time.

I'd be willing to give IRC a try, for random arenas, but not for this CISOD.
As for the present issue, you're suggesting a CISOD set with Generations characters? It could work, though I know I, like Draxas, would like to re-work my Generations character (or perhaps the better term is scrap it and just assume a new one). The other question is, will it be a real CISOD, or do we just use CISOD as a synonym for anything particularly plot-driven? Personally, I'd prefer it to not be a set mission, or at least not at first.

The second one. Plot-driven...but more character-driven plot than mission-driven plot. Yeah, I would have NO objections to scrapping and such...but really, I think it'd be most fitting.

Well, unless anyone objects, I suppose we'll be doing a CISOD: Generations-esque arena. How many years do we have Generations set to after "the present"?
For now I'll spread the word, see who else we can bring in.
EDIT: I read the intro to the old Generations thread and have confirmed that it is 25 years. Do we want to use the same set-up to fill in the 25 years or go with something else? There was talk in the ex-Generations about everyone scrapping and starting over.

Well, I think we should scrap what happened in that arena. Retcon it so to speak. I personally have no wish to scrap my character...that's optional.

First of all, what the HECK is up with the bloody font on the main banner? Secondly - new theme rocks.
Yes, I had to say that here because otherwise I'd have to make more than my requisite one post a week. d-:
I've been trying to RP for quite a while now . . .
My main concern, now that I've broadened my RP horizons, is whether or not we allow people to assume the actions of another character in a post. This is a major no-no in RP canon, and I know we allowed that here to a ridiculous extent. If we started a new arena/generations/cisod/whatever, would we still be allowing this?

That was part of the original PDBA, and always has been. Doing it in IRC would eliminate the need for that, but controlling other players in your posts is part of PDBA tradition. If you didn't, anything would take FOREVER, and don't even THINK about fighting another character.

You like that font eh, Note? I was looking for a somewhat different font that I had and stumbled upon the fancy cursive one, figured it was unique.
As far as "controlling" other players, I've always figured that it's pretty essential in order to have things flow well. When it's important things, obviously try to work around it and let the other person control.
So we'll be doing the original set-up for Generations then (see the intro that Draxas posted in the other topic). I suppose we'll just start out randomly, everyone kind of do their own exposition and such? After a bit we need to develop some sort of plot or something for us all to do together, but I think we can worry about that later. For now, I'll mass email and post on AG, see who can be scrounged up.

I suck at making characters, though. It takes too much thought and I don't have time to think. Razor, I want you to help me out. We'll discuss it later as I'm getting ready to leave for erie atm.
