N3B is ninja, Notey is no longer active or seen anymore for that matter, Raven is I imagine busy with school or some such thing, I can't remember the rest of the OL. I just know that I have never been a good DM/OL so I just choose to not be put into that role

*Hold up sign with a giant arrow pointing to Ranger, and the text "OVERLORD" printed in block letters.*
Just incase you forgot. Though if you're not interested in doing it anymore, I'm not going to try to force you or anything.

Point being, if you decided to try your hand at it again, I wouldn't have any reservations about cutting you loose on the game.

Some of our more astute player may have noticed a fairly large overhaul performed on the Arms & Equipment Guide, as well as new additions to the shops. This is all heralding a major new addition to the game, but it is currently a work in progress. However, since N3B seems to have flown the coop with regards to his OL duties (hint hint), I will be implementing this alone, and without any input from other viewpoints.
And so, I ask; would the PLAYERS like to evaluate my idea, before it's completely integrated into the game?

You pretty much have the gist of it right there. The runesmith will be able to upgrade you equipment by inserting runes (the kind used to cast spells) or other socketable items. Each type of equipment has a fixed number of upgrade slots, and each item attached consumes one. However, at least in the case of socketing, the process is revesible, incase you want to upgrade later or decide you don't like a particular effect anymore.
There will also be more mundane (and less expensive) upgrades available at the blacksmith's. These will not require runes or anything else (other than the XP to pay for them), but they will be permanent.
Different runes will have different effects based on what items they're inserted into, of course. Socketing, say, a Fireball rune into a sword would yield a fire-element attack, while socketing it into armor might help defend against fire instead.
I had some other ideas on how this process could be extended to mages, but that's nowhere near as fleshed out, and I can tell what I have now is terribly unbalanced.

Well on the archer side of that you could include different types of special feathers to put into the bows and new different strings plus whatever sockets there are already. Strings would be reversible but feathers would not due to their magical properties that allow them to be put in in the first place and only a limited amount of feathers can be put in each bow (2-3)

The way I have it set up now, every item has a certain number of upgrade slots that (in most cases) are universal; they can be used for either sockets, mundane upgrades, or whatever else might come up.
The way I figure it, socketing runes would always be reversible. However, socketing other items designed solely for that purpose (such as these feathers you mentioned) may or may not be reversible, depending on the circumstances.
By the way, if you have any suggestions or ideas for this new set of mechanics, I would love to hear them. I'm not to keen on trying to work this whole thing out myself. As an added incentive (and yes, this goes for everyone else, too), I'd be more than happy to award some bonus XP for anyone who comes up with good suggestions or ideas that either wind up in the final implementation, or help move the process in the right direction.
