You come to the crossroads, which connect each city. You look at the map, and see that they all can take you to whichever city you need.

Nayton arrived at the crossroads leading out from Suryan, with signs indicating directions to reach certain towns, outposts, and hunting grounds. He found a sign on his right pointing down the trail heading generally NE from Suryan, just as Rojie had said. He diligently began his long trek out to Lesko, wondering what he'd find on his path.

It wasn't long before Nayton's questions were answered.
He had trekked down the path to Lesko for several miles already, when a pair of men came into view. Both were dressed in bright green, which stood out starkly from the dusty road. They appeared to be conversing, though Nayton was too far to hear what was being said.
As Nayton drew closer to the pair, one of them caught sight of his approach, and directed the other's attention to him. Then, together, the two men began to walk down the road towards Nayton, eyes fixed upon him.

Nayton had encountered travellers on highways before, and usually just passed on by them without a hint of trouble. However, these two looked dangerous, and with a malicious intent. He pulled his cloak tight around him with one hand hidden beneath it bringing the power of the fire rune to his hand if he needed to fight.
He continued to walk, hoping the men would just pass him by.

Unfortunately for Nayton, it seemed like this pair of travellers had all the malicious intent he expected.
As the two came close enough to converse with Nayton, he could see that they were both young men, and that their clothes were in impeccable shape, with not a spot of dirt nor a tear anywhere to be seen on them. However, both wore a rather predatory grin.
"Ey, guvnah," said the one on the left, as they both sneered, "Ows about yah give us yah belongings, an' we won't 'ave tah hurtcha!"

Nayton wasn't about to hand over his valuables to these folks; he'd worked hard to gather this material and needed it to survive.
"Hey, what's that!?" He said, pointing to a cluster of boulders behind them. They turned, falling for the oldest trick in the book. With their backs exposed, Nayton unfurled his cloak in a grand display, quickly charging the energy and hurling a large ball of flame at the two.

Nayton's fireball seared through the air toward the two would-be brigands. The man who addressed Nayton was quick on his feet, and leapt back from the burning projectile, which only singes the edge of his tunic a bit. The other man, however, was significantly slower, both of foot and wit, fell completely for the ruse and was struck full-on by the fireball as he turned to look "at that." His tunic burst into flames, and he shouted, "OW OW OW OW OW!" as he flopped into the dirt and rolled around. This quickly smothered the fire, but left him filthy, singed, and with his clothes starting to look decidedly more tattered by the second.
"Oy! So we got us a fiyahcrackah, heyah!" exclaimed the man who had done all the talking so far, "We're gonna hafta teechya a lesson, yah?"
He glanced down at the other brigand, who was still rolling around in the dirt, despite the fact that the fire had been out for some time. In fact, he had stopped screaming now, and was actually grinning stupidly and making quiet "Whee!" noises as he rolled about.
"EY! BILLY!" shouted the talkative brigand. The other stopped his rolling and looked up at his partner, slackjawed.
"Daaah, yeah Boss?" he asked, with the distinctive drone in his voice of someone VERY slow on the uptake.
"Oy! Aye need mah knife, Billy! Gimmie it!"
"Daaah, what knife, Boss?"
"Mah knife, Billy! The one I told you not to forget!"
Billy looked up at his boss blankly. Nayton had seen potatoes with more of a glimmer of intelligence in their eyes.
"Daaah, I think I forgot it, boss."
"WHAT?!"

Nayton rolled his eyes; these two were a joke. They should have been able to take out a novice wizard with ease. Instead, they've only succeeded in slowing down his progress. He would have to get rid of these two before he could continue.
Returning to his days of the Academy, Nayton recited the lyrics to an old latin spell. As the words rang off his tongue, the ground began to rumble, rocks lifted into the air, a bolt of lightning cracked the sky, a blue aura engulfed him, and he was lifted off the ground, several feet into the air. Thunder pounded the sky with each slice of lightning.
This spell had no real effect on anything; it was mostly all an illusion created by magic. Its main function is just to show off, or, in this case, intimidate. The two harmless bandits looked on, unsure of whether or not to attack this foe without sufficient supplies.

The two bandits looked up at Nayton hovering in the air. Billy's mout hung wide open, and he said, "Ooooooooooooooo."
His partner was rather less impressed. He sneered at Nayton, strode over to him confidently, and grabbed ahold of his ankle. Before Nayton could respond, the bandit gave a mighty yank, breaking Nayton's concentration and dispelling the illusion, which sent him crashing to the ground.
"Oy! Get up ya bugger!" he shouted, balling his hands into fists, "Yah think ah'm stupid? Yah think I ain't nevah seen no magic befoh? Ah'll pound yah to a pahlp!"

That would be way too sickeningly powerful for a starter skill, don't you think?
I'll have the battle round up in a moment.

That would be way too sickeningly powerful for a starter skill, don't you think? Indeed it would be. Just a note, make sure that you mark down my thunderbolt and curse for this match. And you need to RP some so that I can OL something.
