The wilderness is a place where anything could happen. Simply pick a landmark, pick a direction to go, and strike out! Who knows what you might find? There are many discoveries to be made in this world of Terra...
However, the wilderness is not without its dangers. The farther you go from civilzation, the more dangerous things can get, so pace yourself. Remember, in the uncharted wilds, it's not likely that anyone will be able to find you if you should need help...

OL's Note: It is at this point, that I wish I had a graphical representation of the world map...
Ranger set out into the plains that stretched between Suryan to the north, and Kestral to the southwest. The tall grasses swayed gently in the breeze, giving the area a peaceful appearance, but also masking any wildlife that chose to stay low to the ground.
Ranger had hardly made it a mile from the crossroads, than he was ambushed by a lean and hungry-looking giant rat!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The badly wounded giant rat apparently decided Ranger wasn't going to be as easy a meal as it surmised, and got one last bite in before it turned and tried to half-scurry, half limp away into the tall brush once more. However, just before it could vanish into the ground cover, Ranger loosed an arrow that struck it square in its retreating back. The giant rat let out a pathetic squeal as it collapsed to the ground, and the swaying grasses snapped back into place, hiding the corpse from view.

After shifting aside the grasses for a few moments, Ranger finds the now lifeless giant rat. However, other than the arrow still lodged in its back and covered in blood, the rat has nothing of interest.

Ranger headed southwest from Kestral, using the road to skirt the edge of the Western Forest. While he initially encountered some members of the Kestral Watch as he left the city, he was otherwise lonesome on his journey. The Western Forest stood silent sentinel on his right as he passed, and after several miles of travel on the southern road, the forest broke, and verdant green meadows strecthed before Ranger in every direction except the northwest.
To his nothwest was the bulk of the Western Forest. As Ranger reached the corner of the forest, he could see that the road curled around it and began skirting it to the south, headed westward. Far to his west, he could see mountains rising to meet the sky. In every other direction, however, grassy plains rolled onward for as far as the eye could see.

Ranger headed to the west, still keeping the forest on his immediate right. He walked along the road for miles, the mountains slowly drawing closer with each step. The road was abandoned; he hadn't seen a soul since he had been very near Kestral.
All that changed as a shout emanated from the forest nearby. Ranger spun, and saw several goblins bearing down on him with weapons ready!
